Bureau News September 4: Yemeni militant group Houthi recently sent emails to several ships warning of a deadly attack. As a result, a British oil tanker was hit by their missile, which caused a terrible explosion in the Red Sea. The video of this incident has gone viral on the net world and it has caused concern in the international community.

Why was the ship attacked?

The Houthis have increased their attacks in the Red Sea since November last year. They are siding with Hamas in the Israel-Hamas war and targeting various ships. The Houthis have stated that they are carrying out these attacks in support of the Palestinians in Gaza and will continue until the Israeli military ceases operations. A few months ago, the Houthis sent a threatening email to a Greek shipping company. The ship allegedly docked at an Israeli port. For that reason, it is clearly stated by the Houthis that the ship may be attacked by the Houthis in the future and the shipping company's authority will be responsible for it. The name of the shipping company has not been released for security reasons. The Houthi attack began after the incident became public. In the viral video, the Houthi missiles hit the British oil tankervm, "Cordelia Moon", which immediately set the entire ship on fire. A video of the explosion was broadcast on a Houthi-controlled TV channel called Al Masira.
